Who doesn’t know them? The ”Crystal Monsters” by ”Jesse Anderson” from the Yu-Gi-Oh GX series. Pure nostalgia. Anyone born in 1998 or earlier will surely remember the time when the series was on TV. Since the first release of the ”Crystal Monsters” in the ”Force of the Breaker” set in 2007, they have been absolute fan favorites in the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe. Most recently, the archetype received support in the 2012 set ”Return of the Duelist” in the form of ”Advanced Darkness”. This card turns all ”Crystal Beast” monsters on the field and in the graveyard into Darkness monsters. This means that the slightly cooler brother of ”Rainbow Dragon”, namely ”Rainbow Eclipse Dragon”, can also be played in the deck. But what does the new Structure Deck offer the deck?
Structure Deck: Legend of the Crystal Beasts

The new Structure Deck which will be released on 29.09.2022
The star of the show is certainly the new ”Ultimate Crystal Rainbow Dragon Overdrive”

The boss monster from the new Structure Deck
1 “Ultimate Crystal” monster + 7 “Crystal Beast” monsters
Must be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) during a Duel in which you Special Summoned an “Ultimate Crystal” monster by banishing the above monsters from your field and/or GY. While 7 or more of your “Crystal Beast” monsters with different names are banished, this card gains 7000 ATK. If this card has not yet battled this turn (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card; shuffle as many cards on the field as possible into your Deck, and if you do, Special Summon any number of your banished “Crystal Beast” monsters.
”Ultimate Crystal” monsters are, for example, the two rainbow dragon brothers. Fortunately, there are no longer just seven crystal monster monsters, but eight instead with the new ”Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon”.

The eighth ”crystal monster”
When this face-up card is destroyed in a Monster Zone, you can place it face-up in your Spell and Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell instead of placing it on the GY. You can only use each of the following effects of “Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon” once per turn. When an attack involving a “Crystal Beast” monster is declared: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. You can banish this card, which is treated as a Continuous Spell; Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower “Crystal Beast” monster from your Deck, but negate its effects, and if you do, add 1 “Ultimate Crystal” monster from your Deck to your hand.
The deck’s monster line-up therefore gets a big push. There are also various new spell and trap cards in the deck. However, these are not so central to the strategy, but have a supporting function in the deck, which is why we are not listing them here. The deck also comes with a good number of Reprints of Staple cards, which are also extremely strong in other decks:
- Dimension Shifter
- Ash blossom & Joyous Spring
- Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion
- Foolish Burial Goods
- Cosmic Cyclone
- Ferret Flames
So: is it worth getting the deck? Definitely! Whether you’re a new player, an old veteran or a fan of crystal monsters, this deck is definitely something you could use in your collection. If you would like to get it, you are welcome to drop by our store!
