January 2022 will already be magical – Magic the Releasening!

Currently, Magic! The Gathering is almost constantly in the so-called spoiler season. New products and sets are being announced almost daily and players and collectors are almost losing track of what products will be released in the coming weeks and months. So here’s a little insight into the upcoming releases!

On September 28, Wizard announced that Innistrad: Double Feature, the Commander Collection Black and the postponed Commander Parties will all be released on January 28, 2022

Innistrad: Double Feature is a Special Edition Draft Booster that contains cards from the recently released Innistrad: Midnight Hunt as well as Innistrad: Crimson Vow, which will be released on November 19th. One half werewolves, the other half vampires. Sounds like an almost creepily interesting set, doesn’t it?

In a nod to the drive-in horror films of the early 20th century, Double Feature’s cards are printed in Schwarz & Weiss and form a fully playable draft set. This means that participating players can open Booster Packs and assemble a viable 40-card deck for Limited format events.

The Commander Parties are Wizard’s homage to the fan format of the same name and allow groups of players to experience and influence a story while playing. We are curious to see exactly how this will be implemented, but it certainly sounds exciting.

Like its predecessor, Commander Collection Green, Commander Collection Black is a set of 8 cards representing iconic black Commander strategies. You can see the eight cards (+1 token) below:
