Getting into the set
Welcome to a new world of machines and magic with the latest Magic set, Marsch der Maschinen! This set offers players a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a world where the control of magic has been taken over by machines.
The set is the 86th regular Magic set since the game’s inception and contains 277 cards, including 111 Commons, 80 Uncommons, 53 Rares and 33 Mythic Rares.
The cards were developed by a group of 15 Magic designers, including Mark Rosewater, Gavin Verhey and Melissa DeTora. The illustrations for the cards were created by a variety of talented artists from around the world, including Johannes Voss, Chris Rallis and Magali Villeneuve.
Publication date: 21.04.2023
The set introduces new mechanics such as “Discharge” and “Overload”. Unload is an ability that triggers when a card is put into the graveyard, while Overload is an ability that has an additional cost to create a stronger effect. These mechanics offer players new ways to build their decks and plan their strategies.
Some of the standout cards in the set are the “Automata Titan” and the “Magic Resistance”. The Automata Titan is a powerful creature with a high defense value that can take control of the battlefield. With its ability to empower other machines, it is a threat to all who stand in its way. Magical Resistance protects wizards and creatures from damage from machines and gives them the ability to defend themselves against the overwhelming power of machines.
In addition to new mechanics and cards, the set also offers a new background story that takes players into a world full of adventure and excitement. The plot of the set revolves around a world in which machines have taken control of magic, and players take on the role of powerful wizards who want to fight the machines and bring magic back to the world.
Line-up for Magic the Gathering: March of the Machines
“Marsch der Maschinen” is part of the Standard format of Magic: The Gathering and is expected to remain legal until Fall 2024. Available as booster packs and preconstructed decks, it also includes new tokens and counters to represent certain abilities and tokens.
Familiar faces from Dominaria return!
The set also offers new possibilities for multiplayer play, as many cards have abilities that target multiple players, such as the ability to split damage evenly between all opponents. There are also special collectible cards in the set, including full art lands, available in different languages and with stunning illustrations.
Multiverse Legends
As in the Strixhaven set, we also receive a “Mystical Archive”. Only this one is now called Multiverse Legends. The so-called Multiverse Legends cards come in a matching style, depending on the type of card. For example, Ragavan from Kaladesh in the Kaladesh Masterpiece design.
Commander Decks with Planechase cards
On top of that, we get Commander Decks and there’s a surprise there too! Planechase cards are returning.
However. The latest Magic Set seems to come up trumps with various possibilities. We are excited 🙂
