Strassen von Neu Capenna is just around the corner!

The battle for supremacy of Capenna is coming up and with the arrival this Friday (29.04.2022) we would like to tell you something about the new abilities of the houses. As always, you can find the decks in our store, as well as the individual cards.

If you already liked the Cycle skill, you’ll loveIntrigue (Eng. Connives). Instead of having to pay mana for the cycle, the Intrigue effect is triggered by the card itself coming into play. The ability says that each time Intrigue triggers, the player draws a card and then discards one. If a non-land card is discarded, a +1/+1 counter is put on the creature that triggered the ability. This now makes it possible, apart from being able to work through the library faster to see desired cards, for the creatures on the field to become stronger. A nice ability for anyone who likes to play combo decks!

You don’t play with life, but you can’t avoid it with the Casualty ability. Black-Red (Raktos) has always been known for the sacrifices that came with it as abilities, but in this set blue is now also integrated, which ensures that the abilities are copied. So something is sacrificed so that the ability of the card with Casualty is activated twice. But there is a catch: only one creature may be sacrificed and the strength of the creature must be at least equal to the casualty. ability has to be. The nice thing about the ability is that it’s optional and can be a nice finishing touch to a sacrifice deck.

The sore points of Aggressive Deckst are somewhat alleviated with the new Blitz ability. Anyone who likes to move fast can quickly suffer from the consequence of drawing too few cards. With Blitz, this is now a way to increase the flow of cards. The ability means that you can play a creature at its Blitz cost, which is usually lower than its normal cost, giving the creature haste and “When this creature dies, draw a card”. The downside is that the creature is sacrificed at the end of the same turn. The ability can certainly be optimized even better with sacrifice abilities, as the maximum potential is thus extracted from the low mana cost. Note: If the creature is exiled, the ability will not trigger.

Jaxis the troublemaker

Everyone knows the classic “enter the battlefield” ability. But what will it look like as soon as not the creature that enters the battlefield triggers an effect, but all creatures in play trigger the effect when a creature enters the battlefield? The Allicance ability counts towards allies and creates a celebration on the field with each new ally. This also applies to token creatures. However, cards like Tocatli Honor Guard or Hushbringer can make life difficult for this deck. So: always have a creature destruction spell up your sleeve!

Afraid of losing your favorite creature? Now give your strongest creatures a shield that protects them from a destruction spell or the damage of an even stronger creature. With the shield token ability, you can protect the creatures that are important to you from direct and indirect forms of destruction. This means that with each additional shield token, you present your opponent with a new problem that they need to solve as quickly as possible. You can also place several shield tokens on a creature. Nevertheless, exile is a place from which the tokens will not protect you, so caution is still advised there.

The new cards will bring exciting decks, as they work very well as complements and support each other. In addition, New – Capenna focuses on 3-color decks and brings the missing Triome with it. We are in for an exciting time!
