Modern Horizons 2 – Broadening the horizon

It’s been a long time since Modern Horizons was released. The one that produced very strong cards such as Hoggak, Arisen Necropolis, which spread fear and terror in both Modern and Legacy. Will Modern Horizons 2 also produce such meta-defining cards? We’ll try to find out in this blog post!

Modern horizons – a new horizon?

Unlike other intermediate sets, this set will not support the standard format. Instead, it will include support for the Modern and Eternal formats. Both new and old (Reprints) cards will support established themes as well as introduce new themes. The cost of the product (Booster, Display, etc.) will be in the same range as Modern Horizons 1.

The return of the “Retro Frames”, i.e. the old edges of cards from previous sets, was also announced.

We also know that there will already be 59 different mechanics in the set! We are excited to see what else will be added.

Modern Horizons 2 has the potential to be one of the best sets. Due to the set’s focus on Modern, there is also the likelihood that some of the cards mentioned here will be relevant for quite some time. Of course, there are far more cards in the set than those mentioned here. Nevertheless, the focus here is on some of the potentially best cards in the set.

1st Cabal Coffers

Cabble Coffers generates even more mana for each swampland you control. In certain strategies, this can help you win the resource battle!

2. force of vigor

Being able to remove your opponent’s enchantments or artifacts is very powerful in any case. Especially if you can do this for free during your opponent’s turn.

3. geyadrone dihada

Dihada is a new Planeswalker. We wouldn’t be surprised if it definitely found a place in the competitive environment. The -3 effect alone is already extremely strong. The additional protection from all permanents that have received a token from her also makes her untouchable the longer the game goes on!

4th Fury

Fury will definitely find a home in red burn decks. Spreading 4 damage on the field is never a bad thing and exactly what a burn deck is all about.

5. persist

Persist revives one of your creatures. Depending on the deck and possible combo, this can decide the game in the first two turns!

6 Titania, Protector of Argoth

In a landfall deck or in combination with fetch lands, this card definitely has gameending potential. Building a token army with 5/3 is nothing that isn’t good in the right deck.

7th Sword of Hearth and Home

An Artifact Equipment that first boosts your creature and then boosts your board presence when the creature deals combat damage? Sign me up! A very strong, generic card that can be played in one deck or another.

8th Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth

A land that turns all other lands (including your opponent’s) into forests! This card can be very strong in dual color decks.

9th Sythis, Harvest’s Hand

In enchantment-based decks, this card is very powerful.

10th Svyelun of Sea and Sky

For Merfolk decks, this is definitely a nice addition to the existing card pool. Continuous Draw Power combined with protection for your other Merfolks and all for three mana is certainly nothing to ignore in this set.
